Dr. Aditi Halder earned her M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from Department of Chemistry, University of Pune in 2004 and Ph.D. in materials science from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (2009). After two years of post-doctoral research at Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University, she did her second postdoc at NSF Center for High Rate Nanomanufacturing at Northeastern University. The main focus of her research work involves designing and development of new functional nanomaterials and nanocomposites inspired by selective structure-property relationship, their assembly and integration for the application of renewable energy, nano-electronics and sensor application.

Dr. Viswanath Balakrishnan is a native of Tamil Nadu (Chidambaram) and obtained his M.Sc in Materials Science (2002) from Anna University, Guindy campus. He did his PhD on understanding the growth and electron microscopy of functional nanostructures and graduated from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2008. He was a senior research associate in IISc, Bangalore from 2008-2009 and investigated nanomechanical behavior of hydroxyapatite bio-mineral. He joined Harvard University as post-doctoral fellow (2009 to 2013) and carried out in-situ phase transition studies with major components of electrical, mechanical and electron microscopy of functional oxide thin films. Later, he joined Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as Post-Doctoral Associate (2013-2014) and explored the growth of carbon nanotube (CNT) and Graphene. He was/is active user at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and carried out in-situ electron microscopy probing CNT growth. His research interests revolve around growth, electron microscopy, mechanical behavior of functional materials and thin films. In other words, having closer look at smaller things to make bigger impact in science and society. He like playing chess, listening music, spending time with his son Aditya and has long bucket list of things to do like everyone elseā€¦
