Dr. Suman has joined IIT Mandi as assistant professor, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She did her Ph.D. from IIT Delhi in 2011. The area of research was Historical Fiction, with particular focus on the fictional representations of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. She has worked on the concepts of stereotyping and representation in fiction. She has written as well as presented analytical papers on historical novels and films, and been part of various workshops at IIT Delhi and NIAS, Bangalore on philosophy and literature.
Prior to joining IIT Mandi, She worked as an Assistant Professor at Hindu College, Delhi University for more than a year. Apart from teaching, her passions include painting, photography and embellishing.

"Manu V. Devadevan was born in Kozhencherry in Kerala and raised in Bangalore. He worked with the South-Central Railway for a while after pre-university education, during which he obtained a bachelor degree in sociology through distance learning from Annamalai University, Tamilnadu. After a masters in history from JNU, New Delhi, he was awarded the junior fellowship in literature by the Department of Culture, Govt. of India. Devadevan obtained his doctoral degree in history for a thesis on the Historical Evolution of Literary Practices in Medieval Kerala (ca.1200-1800 CE), after which he established the Archive India Institute, headquartered in Bangalore, for digitizing inscriptions, literary texts and religious works from premodern South Asia. He is currently Secretary of the Institute. He is also a member of the Indian History Congress, and has authored several books and a number of articles, including research papers, which have appeared in national and international journals. Devadevan is also a poet and literary critic, writing in Kannada. His areas of interest range from history, epigraphy, archaeology and literature to philosophy, political science, religious studies, maritime studies, military history, climatology, geography and geology."
