Prof. Ramesh Oruganti received his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. After working for several years in India in the area of electronic power conversion, he obtained his Ph.D degree from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va, in 1987. Following this, he was with the Corporate R&D division of General Electric Company, Schenectady, USA, working on advanced power converter systems. In 1989, he joined the National University of Singapore, where he served as a faculty member in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department for several years. From 2010 to early 2013, he worked as an independent consultant in Power Electronics and Energy Systems area in Singapore. His research interests cover several areas of power electronics including power processing in solar photovoltaic energy systems. His other interests include going on walks with his wife, and reading books. Recent books that he has read and would like to recommend to others include ‘The Age of Absurdity’ by Michael Foley and ‘The Tell-Tale Brain’ by V.S. Ramachandran.
