About IIT Mandi
Nestled in the Sivalik Range of the Himalayas, away from the bustle of the metropolis, a new abode of learning has germinated. A few hours before the Himalayan resort Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, IIT Mandi has been established with the vision to be a leader in science and technology education, knowledge creation and innovation, in an India marching towards a just, inclusive and sustainable society.

Student Activities
TheTechnical Society or SNTC includes Entrepreneurship, SAE SUPRA, Robotronics, STAC, Yantrik, KBG, Nirmaan and Programming Club of the institute.
The Sports Society has a sports council which coordinates all the sports activities for Football, Cricket, Badminton, Lawn Tennis etc at Kamand Campus.
Cultural Society includes music club, dance club, dramatics club, art geeks, movie making club, photography club and designauts of the college. One unique feature of the Institute's Cultural Society is that all the clubs support open participation i.e.

Prof Laxmidhar Behera joined as the Director of IIT Mandi on 19th January, 2022. Prior to this, he was working as the Poonam and Prabhu Goel Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, and simultaneously served as TCS affiliate faculty. After completing BSc (Engg) and MSc (Engg) from NIT Rourkela in 1988 and 1990 respectively, he received the PhD degree from IIT Delhi in 1997.

Addressing the Institute on this grand occasion, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, said, “IIT Mandi is doing a laudable job in building a culture of research and innovation. We are in a ChatGPT era where artificial intelligence is taking over the technological world. We are in an era of disruptive innovation. Campus Life
IIT Campus is spread over North and South campuses in Kamand. North and south campuses are contiguous and interconnected with roads and walkways.
The mess halls at IIT Mandi offer meals three times a day along with scrumptious snacks in between for the students, staff and faculty who subscribe to the mess facility.
